The Division of Nutritional Sciences hosts interdisciplinary faculty, researchers, staff and students that study the broad determinants of human health, from  cellular networks to agriculture and food systems. The Division aims to benefit society through rigorous research and the training of future public health professionals and clinicians.

The Division is involved in many Cornell Cooperative Extension programs related to nutrition.

All programs focus on healthy eating and active living to support obesity prevention efforts.

Experiential Learning in the Global Health Program

A unique opportunity to practice knowledge and skills in a global/public health setting. Students utilize their classroom learning to gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of global and public heath issues. Students engage with communities, professors, peers, and more to apply tools and skills to real world health issues. 

Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP)

FMNP’s goals are to enhance the food security of low-income families and seniors, and to strengthen local farmers’ markets.

Food and Nutrition Education in Communities (FNEC)

Programs for limited-resource populations throughout New York, including Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), Eat Smart New York, and Farmers' Market Nutrition Program.

The Institute for Nutritional Sciences, Global Health, and Technology (INSiGHT)

aims to foster non-traditional partnerships between researchers, those who implement, health workers, and policymakers to solve complex nutritional and health challenges with minimal resources.

WHO Cochrane Cornell Summer Institute for Systematic Reviews in Nutrition for Global Policy Making

Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO), Cochrane, and Cornell University come together to train participants in systematic reviews of nutrition interventions in populations.

 

Division of Nutritional Sciences, PAHO/WHO Collaborating Centre

The Division’s excellence in interdisciplinary nutrition research has earned it the honor of being the only World Health Organization designated center for nutrition in the United States. This designation was awarded in 2016 to the Division for its expertise in implementation research in nutrition and global policy.
