In FSAD 6900, students take a holistic approach to fashion design. The graduate-level course is taught by Heeju Park, Vincent V.C. Woo Professor of Human Centered Design, who is also affiliated with the Department of Design Tech. It emphasizes understanding human performance and environmental challenges, developing functional prototypes, and scientifically evaluating those prototypes using advanced technologies.

At the end of the class, two groups unveiled forward‑thinking projects that improve performance and comfort in women’s apparel

Students enrolled in FSAD 4021 rang in the New Year in Bengaluru, India — their first stop on a rigorous 18-day field experience through India and Sri Lanka.

Kimberly Kopko received her Ph.D. in Child Development from the Department of Human Development at Cornell University and joined the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research (BCTR) in the College of Human Ecology.  Her research and Extension work examines child development and parenting and family processes.  Current research and outreach projects include: parenting and youth development, parenting and child learning, and the use of research and evidence-based parent education programs to promote positive parenting and strengthen families. Jung-hye Shin named chair of the Department of Human Centered Design

Jung-hye Shin, a design researcher and academic leader, has been named professor and chair of the Cornell Human Ecology (CHE) Department of Human Centered Design (HCD).

Shin comes to Cornell from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she served as chair and professor in the Department of Design Studies and as faculty director of design at the Center for Design and Material Culture.

For Shin, this is a return to the Hill. She earned

Who, what, why: Jack Elliott’s sculpture gives voice to the trees

John (Jack) Elliott pauses at each tree and shares its origin story. His studio — a graffiti-covered former skate park — houses his “arborworks”: tree sculptures in various stages of completion, from newly found trunks to finished pieces.
