Jeremy roberts '14

Jeremy is a physician in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.  He grew up in Bellmore, NY and graduated from the College of Human Ecology at Cornell University in 2014 with a degree in Human Biology, Health, and Society.  After his time at Cornell, Jeremy went to Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and graduated in 2018.  He did his Intern Year at Lenox Hill Hospital and subsequently a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia & Cornell.  Jeremy will be starting his fellowship in Pediatric Rehabilitation in July 2022 at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

Jeremy is passionate about his work to improve the lives of children with disabilities and enable pediatric patients to do what they love, notwithstanding the short- or long-term physical, mental, or social barriers they face.  This includes achieving some sense of normalcy and improving their function in order to help them live their lives to the fullest.  During his time in medicine, he has strived to balance work as an all-around physician through service, research, teaching, and clinical care. 

Jeremy has served as a PRIMES mentor, assisting underrepresented minorities who are on a pre-med path toward matriculation to medical school.  He has been passionate about fundraising through events such as No-Shave November and talent shows in support of groups like Co/Lab (a group for adaptive arts), DOVE (Domestic Violence and Other Emergencies), and CityHarvest.  Jeremy has also volunteered and served as a sideline physician for numerous athletic events at local high schools, colleges, the Special Olympics, and the New York City Marathon.

Through research, Jeremy has written IRB protocols and done work in COVID and swallowing disorders, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy, Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy Outcomes, and rehabilitation outcomes in COVID.  He has been able to present his work locally, regionally, and nationally.

Jeremy has been lucky to teach at multiple levels, running physical exam courses for medical students, coordinating the entire academic curriculum for his residency program, and working as Chair of the Weill Cornell Medicine Housestaff Quality Council to assist with quality improvement projects and enhance patient safety. 

Above all, Jeremy treats patients as if they are his family and has been recognized for his work through induction to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, recipient of the Intern of the Year award, recipient of the Distinguished Housestaff Award, and designation as Chief Resident. 

Jeremy is excited for the next steps of his career and will continue his work in the field of pediatric rehabilitation.
