Collaboration blends fashion, film studies and spark of fun
On a recent afternoon, four women gathered in the Cornell Fashion + Textile Collection (CF+TC) in Cornell Human Ecology (CHE) to “mine” the collection. The collaborators were preparing an exhibit for the upcoming film screening of “Sunset Boulevard,” and selecting garments that embody main character Norma Desmond, an aging relic from the silent film industry who aspires to recapture her faded glory.

Designers in Residence offer fresh perspectives and new challenges
Amid a riot of colors and textures, faculty and students from Cornell Human Ecology’s Department of Human Centered Design (HCD) marvel at the swatches and garments on display in the MVR 1250 gallery.
Knitwear experts Thijs Verhaar and Lyske Gais spent two weeks embedded in HCD as the 2024 Designers in Residence. During the residency, they attended classes; hosted workshops, a gallery exhibit and a lecture; and made themselves available to faculty and students.

Fashion students earn scholarships and build connections
Gabrielle Moore '25 and Leah Rosenkranz '24 were both named Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF) Class of 2024 Scholars. As scholars, they receive education awards, mentoring opportunities and attended a two-day event in New York that included networking, Q+As with industry leaders and a formal gala.
Moore, a junior majoring in fashion design, was named a Virgil Abloh Scholar. The Abloh Post-Modern Fund was established by the late Virgil Abloh to foster equity and inclusion within

Keith Green and Angela Odoms-Young receive endowed professorships
Two Cornell Human Ecology faculty members – Keith Green and Angela Odoms-Young – received endowed professorships this year that will support their pioneering research and outreach. Green focuses on architectural robotics and Odoms-Young examines the social factors that influence nutrition in low-income communities.
