CHE students reflect on work with community partners
Four community organizations partnering with Cornell Human Ecology students will receive funding as part of the college’s Community-Engaged Reflection Awards. The awards, given to two winners and two runners-up, are based on students’ written reflections about their learning experience with community partners.

Alum brings health care to rural Ghana
When Osei Boateng ’18, MHA ’20 was 18, his beloved grandmother passed away in Ghana. What deepened his pain was his belief that her death was preventable. If she had learned sooner that she had high blood pressure, or gotten faster treatment when it spiked, she may not have suffered a stroke.

For this surgeon, helping patients with breast cancer is personal
In 1997, Dr. Christy Teal ’88 got some bad news that would change the trajectory of her career. Her mother, who was 60, was diagnosed with breast cancer. A month later, her best friend, who was 34, received the same diagnosis. Teal, a general surgeon at the time, decided to dedicate her career to treating the disease, eventually becoming director of George Washington University’s Breast Care Center and co-authoring a book to help patients.

Glick connects micronutrients to metabolic health
As a second year master's student in molecular nutrition, Abby Glick is exploring how micronutrients shape metabolic health across both molecular and human contexts. In the Aydemir Lab, her research focuses on zinc metabolism in metabolic and inflammatory diseases. She works with in vivo and ex vivo models to better understand how zinc absorption and transport influence disease progression.
