Jere D. Haas is the Nancy Schlegel Meinig Professor Emeritus of Maternal and Child Nutrition in the Division of Nutritional Sciences, College of Human Ecology, at Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York. He is also International Professor of Nutrition in Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Science, and Professor of the Graduate School. He received his Ph.D. in Biological Anthropology from the Pennsylvania State University and has been on the Cornell University faculty for 44 years

Obtained medical training in Switzerland, further pediatric training in the US, a PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry from MIT and public health training (MPH) from Harvard, worked in Guatemala for the Institute of Nutrition of Central America as a World Health Organization medical officer in charge of primary health care and epidemiological studies, and then worked for the US National Center for Health Statistics on nutritional surveillance. Born in Rajkot, India, I arrived in the US to pursue higher education in Psychology. After graduating from UCLA, I joined Cornell to work with Dr. Adam Anderson in the Psychology (formerly Human Development) department. 

In my training to be an affective computational neuroscientist, I pursue research in nostalgia, nutrition, autobiographical memory, social sharing of emotions, and consciousness. Dubbed The Ratatatouille Moment, I am constructing a theoretical model on food-related nostalgia and examining its influence
