Julia Dunetz ’19
When people asked 14-year-old Julia Dunetz ’19 what she wanted to be when she grew up, she had an unusual answer: “commercial theater producer.” She pursued her passion with single-minded focus: interning with a theater company in high school, directing and producing plays while studying at Cornell, and producing shows on Broadway and beyond after graduation. Last June, Dunetz’s dream reached a new capstone when “Parade,” the hit musical she co-produced, won a Tony Award

Who, what, why: Roger Figueroa partners with communities to reduce food insecurity
Who: a nutrition researcher improving public health
Roger Figueroa, an assistant professor in the Division of Nutritional Sciences, investigates how food assistance programs — from traditional benefits like SNAP to innovative approaches like produce prescriptions and online grocery delivery — alleviate food insecurity in New York State and across the country.

Qi Wang is the Joan K. and Irwin M. Jacobs Professor of Human Development in the College of Human Ecology at Cornell University. She holds a BSc in Psychology from Peking University, China, and a PhD in Psychology from Harvard University. She directs the Culture & Cognition Lab. Wang's research examines the mechanisms underlying the development of a variety of cognitive and social-cognitive skills in the context of culture, focusing particularly on autobiographical memory and future cognition

HumEcathon takes on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
The College of Human Ecology held its fourth annual HumEcathon, a hackathon-style design challenge, on May 1, bringing together 27 undergraduates to work in multidisciplinary teams on this year’s topic of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives on campus.
