College names inaugural associate dean of CHE in NYC
Tashara M. Leak, associate professor in the Division of Nutritional Sciences, has been named the inaugural associate dean of Cornell Human Ecology in New York City (CHE in NYC). The new position coordinates human ecology research, education, and public engagement in the city as part of the college’s strategic commitment to foster a vibrant, unified network.

CHE and CCE partner with Hannaford to tackle childhood obesity
Hannaford has awarded Cornell University a $225,000 grant to study the causes of childhood obesity and promote programs to reduce obesity-related health risks. The funding supports collaboration with childhood obesity experts to determine community needs and create programs to address those needs.
Nearly 20% of children aged 2-19 are considered obese, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

CHE celebrates 2024 service awards and staff recognition
The Cornell Human Ecology community celebrated a combined 155 years of service to the university at the annual Staff Service Awards and Recognition event on Oct. 9.

Six CHE students named 2026 BCTR Scholars
The Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research (BCTR) is pleased to welcome the third cohort of BCTR Scholars who will spend the next year learning the fundamentals of translational research and applying their knowledge to enhance the community.
