I have three areas of expertise in teaching, involving three types of design literacies. These are visual literacy in design (DEA 1101), material literacy in design (DEA 2422) and ecological literacy in design (DEA 4220).

Nancy M. Wells
Nancy Wells is an environmental psychologist who studies people's relationship to the built and natural environment through the life course. Her studies have focused on residential environments -- housing and neighborhoods -- and more recently schools. Dr. Wells completed a joint PhD in Psychology and Architecture at the University of Michigan; and then NIMH post-doctoral training at the University of California, Irvine.
Marianella Casasola
Marianella Casasola earned her undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Spanish Literature from the University of California, Berkeley. She earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. Her expertise is in infant cognitive development and early word learning with a particular interest in the interaction between language and thought during the first years of development. Rachel Dunifon
Rachel Dunifon is the Rebecca Q. and James C. Morgan Dean of Cornell University’s College of Human Ecology, where she leads efforts to connect knowledge with action to address society’s most pressing human challenges.

Fatma Baytar
Dr. Fatma Baytar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Centered Design at Cornell University. Her research foci are two-fold. The first is on developing new computational tools and methods for achieving seamless digitalization of new product development in the apparel industry. The second is on educating current and future workforce on using 3D digital technologies. Dr. Baytar is cross-trained in textile engineering and apparel design, and has extensive research and teaching experiences
