On May 27 and 28, nearly 300 Cornell Human Ecology students will receive their bachelor’s degrees and officially become CHE alumni.

Four community organizations partnering with Cornell Human Ecology students will receive funding as part of the college’s Community-Engaged Reflection Awards. The awards, given to two winners and two runners-up, are based on students’ written reflections about their learning experience with community partners.

This year’s winners are Noah Berg ’24, partnering with the Western New York Law Center in Buffalo, New York, and Jasmine Guarin ’24, partnering with Community Ambassadors in Ocean County, New Jersey. The

Human Ecology faculty members are addressing climate change and its repercussions across diverse fields of study, including sustainability in the fashion industry, environmentally friendly buildings and malnutrition across the globe.

Tashara M. Leak, associate professor in the Division of Nutritional Sciences, has been named the inaugural associate dean of Cornell Human Ecology in New York City (CHE in NYC). The new position coordinates human ecology research, education, and public engagement in the city as part of the college’s strategic commitment to foster a vibrant, unified network.

This spring's Humecathon brought together students from across Cornell Human Ecology (CHE) and Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences to come up with novel solutions to improve refugee wellbeing.
