The Center for Teaching Innovation will host “What Works,” on Oct. 1, featuring presentations, the Canvas Course Spotlight awardees, and a poster showcase that will demonstrate engaged learning approaches from Cornell faculty teaching in a diverse range of courses and fields.
Jaleesa Reed
Dr. Jaleesa Reed is an assistant professor in the Department of Human Centered Design. Broadly, her research explores the processes of self-definition and consumption in relation to place-making and dress practices for marginalized groups. Through the lens of feminist theory and Black geographies, she studies the influence of racism and representation on Black American women’s conceptions of beauty and identity in retail spaces and cities.

Hybrid Body Lab Artist Talk by Lauren Hooks
Join the Hybrid Body Lab for an artist talk with artist Lauren Hooks. Lauren is a stylist and content creator with 10+ years of experience, blending artistry and strategy. Specializing in artistic braiding and editorial styling, she merges technical skill with cultural storytelling. Lauren is the 2026 Artist-in-Residence at the Hybrid Body Lab.
Xia Zeng
Research Associate in Fiber Science. My research focuses on the remediation and environmental fate of pollutants, and the analysis and degradation study of dyes on textile and archaeological samples. I also cooperate with other faculty on the projects of fabric evaluation, textile test and biodegradation. Teaching and training are my other duties. Currently teaching Fiber Chemistry class and training TAs for other Fiber Science classes.
