Charlotte Liu is an M.S. student in Nutrition at Cornell University, working with Dr. Joeva Barrow. She earned her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, where she developed an interdisciplinary interest in nutritional biochemistry and metabolic disease. Her research interests focus on the molecular regulation of energy metabolism, particularly how mitochondrial function, lipid metabolism, and brown adipose tissue thermogenesis influence whole-body metabolic health. Yining Hou
Yining Hou is an M.S. student in Nutrition, working with Dr. Joeva Barrow. Yining earned degrees in Food Science and Technology from Jiangnan University and Food Technology (Honors) from Massey University in 2026. Her research interests include nutritional interventions for obesity and metabolic diseases and understanding how nutritional signals influence metabolic pathways. Sophie Elisabeth Riedl
Sophie is an MS student in Nutrition and is completing the combined dietetic internship program. She earned an AS in Biology from Tompkins Cortland Community College before transferring to Cornell to finish a BS in Nutrition. Her research interests center around folate, one carbon metabolism, and their implications on neurodegenerative diseases. Sophie is looking forward to a career as a registered dietitian where she can further work to prevent disease conditions through nutrition.

Sephra Lamothe is an interdisciplinary researcher and curator. Her research interest centers on uncovering historically underrepresented experiences within fashion. Sephra’s current research explores the effects of traumatic experiences and environments on material culture. Her recent work includes exploring changes within the design and roles of women's clothing during the 1918 Flu and COVID-19 pandemics and garment production within the Canadian Penitentiary system.
