Yifan Jia is an M.S. student in Nutrition completing the combined Dietetic Internship program. Originally from Beijing, China, she earned dual degrees in Nutrition and Dietetics and Global Health, along with a certificate in Entrepreneurship, from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Her research interests center on women’s reproductive health and the complex relationships among nutrients, the gut microbiome, and metabolic diseases. She is currently a member of the Lujan Lab, where she investigates the impact of hypocaloric diets on the quality of life of women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Yifan is passionate about translating nutrition science into strategies that improve health outcomes and overall well-being for women affected by endocrine and metabolic disorders. After completing her program, she plans to become a Registered Dietitian and continue advancing evidence-based nutrition care for women’s health.
Yifan is working under the guidance of Dr. Marla Lujan and Dr. Athena Ren. Her master’s thesis focuses on examining the impact of hypocaloric dietary interventions on the quality of life of women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
