Sumit Gawali is a designer and researcher working at the intersection of human-centered design, technology, and the built environment. His work examines how people perceive, navigate, and interact with physical and digital environments, with particular attention to agency, inclusion, and access. Drawing on a background spanning architecture, urban design, HCI, and product design, he is interested in combining design research, behavioral inquiry, sensing, and computational approaches to develop more responsive and equitable environments. At Cornell, his current research interests include human-environment interaction, emerging technologies in the built environment, inclusive design, and the ways behavioral and experiential signals can inform spatial and technological interventions.
