Samik Ghosh is a PhD student in Nutrition Sciences (International Nutrition) at Cornell University, working with Dr. Saurabh Mehta. He holds an MA in Social Work (Community Health & Psychiatry) from Banaras Hindu University and a BS in Biological Sciences from the University of Burdwan in India. Prior to joining Cornell, Samik led multi-country programs across Asia and Africa focused on public health, agriculture technology, nutrition & entrepreneurship. His work integrates agri-food systems, health and nutrition ecosystem strengthening, child protection, and digital health to improve maternal and child health outcomes in low-resource settings. He is particularly interested in innovative interventions such as food safety, climate-resilient agriculture, and decentralized healthcare to advance sustainable nutrition. His current research explores precision nutrition strategies that address food system risks, environmental risks and early-life exposures in vulnerable populations. Samik brings a systems-thinking approach to bridging research, implementation, and policy. He is committed to developing leadership in translating evidence into action through program design, policy advocacy, and teaching. His long-term goal is to inform scalable, context-sensitive solutions that promote equity and resilience in global health.
