Ruoqi (Cynthia) Su is a graduate student in Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University, pursuing the M.S./Dietetic Internship track. Her thesis research explores how Zoom-based facilitated group discussions can foster mindful parenting, social connectedness, and a sense of community among parents of preschoolers. She is particularly interested in how technology-supported communication can enhance community nutrition and behavior change within family settings. Cynthia aims to bridge research, practice, and design to develop accessible, evidence-based nutrition education programs. For dietetic internship, her community rotation is with Cornell Sports Nutrition, where she co-conducts research on collegiate athletes’ food choices at the Fueling Station, and her clinical rotation is at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital. Following graduation, she plans to obtain her Registered Dietitian credential and later pursue a Ph.D. to advance research in behavioral and community nutrition.

Cynthia’s thesis, conducted in the Health Behaviors Lab under the supervision of Dr. Laura Bellows at Cornell University, examines how Zoom-based facilitated group discussions can foster a sense of community and improve the quality of conversation among parents of preschoolers. She also co-leads a qualitative study on collegiate athletes’ food choices at the Cornell Sports Nutrition Fueling Station as part of dietetic internship.
