Nayeon Jeon

Nayeon is a third-year Ph.D. student in Cornell University’s Division of Nutritional Sciences, working with Dr. Sander Kersten. She earned her B.A. in Nutritional Biochemistry and Metabolism from Case Western Reserve University. Her research interests center on lipid metabolism and women’s biology. She investigates how fasting alters gene expression in the liver, adipose tissue, and placenta across different reproductive stages. In particular, she seeks to understand the molecular mechanisms how fasting may disrupt maternal physiology during pregnancy and lactation. Her long-term goal is to become a principal investigator at a research institution and advance scientific understanding of women’s lipid metabolism and reproductive biology.
