Larissa (M.S.) is a Ph.D. student in Molecular Nutrition. Before joining Prof. Sander Kersten’s lab, she earned a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Health from Wageningen University, where she developed a strong interest in immunometabolism. Her current research investigates how lipid metabolism shapes immune cell function, integrating in vitro immune models with a human fasting study using high-throughput metabolic and transcriptomic analyses. Her research could help uncover new therapeutic targets to restore impaired immune functions in the context of metabolic diseases like cancer and heart diseases.
