Andrea Poag is a seasoned higher education leader with more than 25 years of experience. A proud first-generation college graduate, Andrea has built her career around expanding access, strengthening student support systems, and creating relationship-centered advising environments. Her advising philosophy emphasizes collaboration and holistic guidance, supporting students from their first campus visit through graduation and beyond.
Andrea’s professional journey spans several institutions, including UNC Charlotte, the University of Maryland, Texas State University, the University of Texas at Austin, and Cornell University. Across these roles, she has led student services teams, developed advising programs, supported student athletes, and built collaborative networks that enhance the student experience.
Her leadership and impact have been recognized through multiple awards, including the Cornell PAAC Advising Excellence Award, the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence, and the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) Region 1 Excellence in Advising – Administrator Award.
