Amanda Levy is from Syosset, New York.  She recently completed her Master’s degree at Indiana University through a five-year program. Her primary interest is nutritional counseling and working one-on-one with individuals to foster sustainable, realistic eating habits and healthier relationships with food. Through the Cornell internship program, she hopes to gain broader exposure to a range of clinical settings and clarify her long-term career goals.

Her experience includes serving as a research assistant in a metabolic kitchen for a university-funded study, where she prepared and portioned meals for participants following controlled diets. This role gave her a strong foundation in precision, organization, and the operational structure of nutrition research. She also shadowed the Chief Clinical Dietitian and Food Service Director at a rehabilitation and nursing facility, where she observed the complexity of nutrition care and the importance of individualized treatment approaches.

Amanda served as a teaching assistant last year for a professor teaching Medical Nutrition Therapy, where she supported students in mastering complex material. This position allowed her to further develop her communication and technical skills, and the teaching experience reinforced her interest in counseling and working directly with individuals.

Across these experiences, she has developed the ability to connect with people and values building trust with individuals to support realistic, long-term behavioral change. She is particularly interested in helping people who feel overwhelmed by nutrition-related information and guiding them toward practical, sustainable habits.

Outside of dietetics, Amanda enjoys cooking, walking, and Pilates, which help her stay active and unwind.
