Resources and Events

The FLDC and its programs produce many resources such as books, reports, training manuals, on-site trainings, and newsletters. Some of these resources are intended for the general public, and some are intended for professionals and scholars. Many are available online.

The Talking with Kids about HIV/AIDS Resource Manual provides background information on HIV/AIDS and adult-child communication. The 'age group charts' are helpful to adapt conversations and safety measures to the age of the child, from infant to teenager. The "Talking with Kids about HIV/AIDS Teaching Guide" describes workshop agendas, objectives, and activities. Activities highlight facts about HIV/AIDS and help participants develop adult-child communication skills. Both are available in English and Spanish.

The National Data Archive on Child Abuse and Neglect (NDACAN) makes youth maltreatment, adoption, and foster care datasets available to researchers for secondary analysis with statistical software such as SPSS or SAS. Researchers can download the codebook information for most datasets directly from our website and learn about our other services such as the Child Maltreatment Research listserv and the annual Summer Research Institute. The NDACAN website also contains event announcements and a brief list of other child maltreatment resources of interest to researchers.

In the Resources section of the Residential Child Care Project (RCCP) web page, you will find valuable links of interest to agencies such as Child Welfare League of America and the Child Abuse Prevention Network, among many others around the world that are devoted to programs for children.

Cornell Youth in Society Program provides tools and publications to enhance work and service opportunities for youth. Our workplace mentoring collection provides a training framework, along with activities, trainer guides, and more. You can also access our workplace learning collection, which contains program design and evaluation tools.

The ACT for Youth website has many resources for the general public: a library database lists hundreds of academic articles, books and other types of materials on the topic of youth development; a links database lists dozens of youth development websites and discussion groups; and online guides and reports are available for download.
