Centers and institutes are established to foster and administer interdisciplinary studies and research that extend across the boundaries of two or more units. Those in Human Ecology serve the entire university and promote collaborative work and synergy. Bronfenbrenner Life Course Center (BLCC) – a university center that fosters collaborative research, outreach, and educational efforts dedicated to understanding the forces and experiences that shape human development throughout all stages of the life course. Includes the Cornell Gerontology Research Institute (CGRI). Project research reports, research briefs, articles, and books are available to the public—many online.
Cornell University Institute for Policy Research (CUIPR) – supports Cornell faculty who conduct research on issues in health and human services policy. Located in Washington, D.C., the institute provides opportunities for Cornell students to pursue research projects on US federal policy issues. CUIPR is a collaborative effort of the College of Human Ecology, the School of Industrial and Labor Relations, and the Office of the Vice Provost for Sponsored Research.
Family Life Development Center (FLDC) – improves professional and public efforts to understand and act upon risk and protective factors in the lives of children, youth, families, and communities that affect family strength, child well-being, and youth development. The center’s books, reports, training sessions, and newsletters are intended for the general public, professionals, and scholars.
Community and Rural Development Institute (CaRDI) – focuses on building community capacity and civil society, enhancing economic opportunities, and the relationship between communities and the environment. The institute generates research through community-university partnerships benefiting New York through educational programs and related research findings.
Office of Statistical Consulting - provides extensive services and instruction to support research and undergraduate and graduate studies, including: research design; data acquisition and manipulation; planning, implementing, and interpreting statistical analysis; and provision of statistical software.

The deadline for course requests for the XXXX semester is DATE. If you are transferring to Cornell from another college or university, please request your schedule using the information contained in the links below:
- Read the Transfer Scheduling Tips
- Review your Graduation Summary (login required), which shows how your transfer credits have been assigned to fulfil Human Ecology graduation requirements.
- Download, complete, and return the Transfer Course Request by DATE; if you don’t submit course requests, you will develop your fall schedule during orientation in August.
